For me, the most incredible spiritual moments that I’ve ever had were in nature; on a boat drifting lazily along under the stars, in a mountain valley with the sun shining down, hiking through the lush forest of Appalachia, inhaling the sweet smell of fallen leaves in upstate New York. Sometimes there is music and sometimes there is silence. Sometimes there is food and sometimes none. I’m rarely sitting still for longer than a few minutes, and often there is dancing, or moving in some way. Sometimes there is ritual, and sometimes there is just great conversation.
If you could build a new church, completely from scratch, what would it look like? What would it sound like? Would it be defined by a physical place or by a gathering of people? What would you include in a service? Would it be ritualistic? Would it be like a gathering of philosophers or like a lecture? How long would the gathering last? Would there be food and drink? Would there be dancing or intentional physical movement? Dream big, and leave a comment…
If you could re-design church, what would it be like? All ideas are welcome and encouraged!
