God is Breath
God is the strong wind
that shapes the earth and sea
and makes the stars shine
to the farthest edge of the heavens.
God is the breath of all living creatures,
the breeze that stirs their hearts,
that refreshes their souls
and renews their spirits.

I’ve always had issues with the western view of God as an autocratic superhero existing far away in the clouds. I think that kind of ideology devalues the sacred nature of the world that we live in, and challenges that anyone and everyone can experience the sacred at any time. It, in essence, aims to rip away the experience of God from anyone not associated with an organized religion. I believe that we need to tread lightly in this way. No religion should ever claim to own the only path to God, like a gatekeeper waiting to collect the toll.
Personally, I like to think of God in the way that Delval describes God, “…the breath of all living creatures, the breeze that stirs their hearts…” I feel something stir in my soul with this imagery, that I otherwise haven’t felt with the “autocrat.” But, everyone is different! Play around with these two views, and even explore other views. Tell me what you feel upon exploration.
